Do you need a medical marijuana card to purchase hemp-derived cannabinoids?
Navigating the world of cannabis products often brings up questions about legality and whether a medical card is necessary for purchase or possession. The simple answer is NO, you don't need a medical card to buy Delta 8, HHC, or CBD. However, in certain states, you might require medical authorization to purchase Delta 9 THC products, if they're even legal there.
What's the legal difference between cannabinoids?
In 2018, the US Federal Government passed the "2018 Farm Bill" which regulated cannabis production and clarified the definition of "hemp." Essentially, this legislation stated that any cannabis plant or product containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC would be considered federally legal hemp, not cannabis.
This means that products containing higher levels of HHC, Delta 8 THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids, with only trace amounts of Delta 9 THC, became legally available nationwide. Some states later enacted their own bans or regulations on some of these compounds, while others didn't pass any additional laws or even legalized and regulated these cannabinoids, albeit with some oversight from state agencies.
Currently, Delta 9 THC remains illegal in many states (and federally), making it unlawful to possess or purchase. Some states have established medical card programs and dispensaries for traditional Delta 9 cannabis, while others have recreational dispensary networks accessible to adults over 21. Some offer both with variations in available products for each group.
Given the complexity and frequent changes in these laws, it's important to check your state's regulations before buying or possessing these products.
Where can you buy Delta 8, HHC, or CBD?
In states where hemp-derived cannabinoids are legal, you'll likely find them in smoke shops, CBD stores, and head shops. Some markets have seen these products become popular enough to be sold in convenience stores, gas stations, and other various retail locations. While you may need to show ID to prove you're 21 or older in certain places, no specific card or license is necessary.
For assurance of quality and safety, purchase from reputable retailers or directly from trusted brands.
When our brand Baked HHC was released, it was the first in the world to offer a consumable HHC product and set the testing standard for all HHC products to follow. Visit bakedhhc.com and use code “MEDICALCARD” at checkout to save 20%!

No, CBD will not get you high. Regardless of how much you consume. With that said, there are still a nearly unlimited number of reasons why someone may choose to consume CBD on a regular basis. It’s been reported that consumers take CBD for relaxation, anxiety relief, inflammation reduction, and overall feelings of balance, among other things. Most users say incorporating CBD into an overall wellness routine is the best way to see the greatest benefits.
What does CBD actually do?
CBD, or cannabidiol, interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), a network of receptors and neurotransmitters that play a crucial role in regulating various physiological processes. Since CBD is not FDA approved, manufacturers of CBD products are not permitted to make claims related to CBD’s effect on Health, but but here re are some key effects of CBD as reported by regular users:
Pain Relief - CBD has been found to have analgesic properties, potentially alleviating both acute and chronic pain by interacting with neurotransmitters and reducing inflammation.
Anxiety and Depression - Studies suggest that CBD may help manage symptoms of anxiety and depression by influencing serotonin receptors in the brain. It may promote feelings of calmness and relaxation.
Neuroprotective Properties - CBD shows promise in protecting the nervous system and may offer benefits in conditions like epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. It has been approved as a treatment for certain forms of epilepsy.
Anti-inflammatory Effects - CBD has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, which could be beneficial in conditions characterized by inflammation, such as arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease.
Sleep Improvement - Some people report improved sleep quality with CBD use, attributed to its calming effects and potential influence on sleep-wake cycles.
Skin Health - CBD is increasingly used in skincare products due to its potential to reduce inflammation, regulate oil production, and soothe skin conditions like acne and eczema.
Heart Health - Preliminary research suggests that CBD may have benefits for heart health by reducing blood pressure, lowering the risk of cardiovascular issues, and promoting overall vascular health.
It's important to note that while CBD shows promise in various areas, more research is needed to fully understand its mechanisms of action and therapeutic potential. Additionally, individual responses to CBD can vary from person to person.
The FDA’s Take On CBD
The Food and Drug administration is responsible for a large portion of regulations impacting the food and medicine supply in the United States, and many other countries tend to follow the FDA’s guidance. As it stands, the FDA does not currently recognize CBD as a food additive or dietary supplement. (There is one exception, a prescription medication called Epidiolex). Considering the countless number of use cases, we can only speculate as to why there seems to be such a hold up on regulating CBD.
Because of this, the marketing models for CBD companies must be sure not to include any claims about how the product may impact the health or medical conditions of their customers. There are also still many restrictions for CBD companies when it comes to digital marketing and social media networking. If these guidelines are ot adhered to, companies can face fines or penalties.
How Much CBD Should I take?
The important thing to note here is that CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, meaning it’s not going to get you too high if you take too much. Cannabinoids also affect everyone differently based on their own physiology, weight, or any other potential factor.
Noticeable doses for consumers are often reported in the 50-100mg range. Additionally, the effects of CBD are usually cumulative, meaning daily use for weeks or months is often required before the desired effects are reached.

If you've visited a smoke shop in the past few years, there's a good chance you've come across Delta-8 and HHC products. Both are derived from hemp and are legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, offering effects similar to traditional Delta-9 THC. However, there are some significant differences between the two.
The Conversion ProcessDelta-8 is created through a conversion process that begins with CBD isolate and ends with Delta-8. HHC, on the other hand, involves an extra step: converting CBD isolate into Delta-8 and then further transforming Delta-8 into HHC. Think of HHC as a more refined and stable cannabinoid.
Key Vaping Differences Between HHC and Delta-8Delta-8 is known for its harsh vaping experience, often causing coughing and sneezing. The effects are not always enjoyable, leaving some feeling lazy or groggy. We give the Delta-8 high a C grade. In contrast, vaping HHC is much smoother and more pleasant, without the coughing and sneezing associated with Delta-8. HHC offers a more cerebral head high, leaving you feeling elevated and uplifted, yet still focused and productive. It's an excellent choice for daytime use, earning a B or B+ grade. The Cost DifferenceWhen HHC was first introduced by our brand Baked HHC, it was quite expensive, making HHC products more costly than Delta-8. However, today the prices of HHC and Delta-8 oils are nearly identical, allowing for both to be sold at similar price points. If you're a regular Delta-8 user, we highly recommend giving HHC a try!The Final VerdictGiven the choice, we'd pick HHC over Delta-8 every time.

What is THCA?
If you’ve been into a smoke shop over the last several months, you have certainly seen products labeled as THCA. From vapes and cartridges to flower, prerolls, and diamonds, THCA products have quickly taken over a large amount of shelf space in a very short period of time. Most of them seem to look a lot like Weed, so you’re probably wondering what THCA actually is..
THCA in Nature
In nature, cannabis plants are producing large amounts of THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid), and typically contain very little Delta 9 THC, which is the common form of THC known for its psychoactive effects. Near harvest, through exposure to regular light and heat, or when heated or burned, the acid form of the molecule decarboxylates (which means that it loses a carbon atom) resulting in Delta 9 THC.
In theory, THCA flower is just cannabis. When tested during specific time thresholds, the lab reports for this flower will show compliant levels of Delta 9 THC, which means it can be sold as legal hemp. This legal definition comes from the 2018 Farm Bill, which essentially states that any cannabis products containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC at the time of testing are federally compliant hemp products. When heated, these molecules decarboxylate into Delta 9 THC, which is what gives the user a “high”. The reality is that this is the same process and mechanism providing the effects when any regular weed products are consumed.
The THCA Legal Loophole
The world “loophole” is often used in reference to companies who are selling THCA products to consumers who will ultimately consume and become intoxicated by Delta 9 THC. While there is much debate as to the intent of the laws in question, the current legal definitions are relatively clear. Compliant THCA products contain less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC, meaning they are legal hemp products by federal definition. Because of this, these products continue to be sold in several large markets across the country, while some states and localities have created testing methods that account for the decarboxylation process or have banned the THCA molecule completely. Enforcement of regulations on THCA have been misguided or underfunded in most places. This seemingly gray area makes it important for you to check with rules and laws in your area before purchasing or possessing THCA products.
THCA Diamonds
When it comes to THCA diamonds, or the crystallized form of the molecule, things get even more tricky. When speaking about flower, even if the plant matter contained less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC at the time of harvest and testing, the exposure to light and heat during transport and display on store shelves almost certainly causes a natural degradation of THCA into Delta 9 THC.
THCA in its “Diamond” (or stable crystalline concentrated) form can be found with up to 99.9% THCA, meaning these products are truly federally compliant at the time of sale and up until the point that the user applies heat.
Some brands in the space have claimed to pioneer methods of infusing truly compliant THCA Diamonds into their legal hemp vape products, however the feasibility of this process is also a widely debated topic.
The Future of THCA
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to what will happen with THCA and the laws in the US. The current landscape varies from state to state and continues to evolve. There are conversations at the federal level and in several states about total cannabis legalization, which could mean that THCA becomes even more widespread, or perhaps that THCA is pushed completely aside by the traditional Delta 9 cannabis market. Either way, we’re excited to see what happens!

What’s in your Delta-8 to begin with?
Like any consumer product category, manufacturers are competing for market share, and unfortunately that creates an opportunity for some makers to cut corners in order to save money or offer a lower price point to their customers. Because there are a wide variety of prices between raw distillate producers, one could reasonably assume that these distillates come in a wide variety of qualities.
Because a drug test may be searching for specific metabolites, a poorly made distillate could not only contain contaminants or byproducts, but could perhaps contain measurable amounts of entirely different cannabinoids, which could of course impact the results of a drug screening.
The best way to ensure you are consuming the highest quality Delta 8 products, rely on well known brands that offer transparent lab testing and COA’s to their customers. We happen to own one of the most affordable and transparent Delta 8 brands on the market, and you can check out budget. Brand lab tests
Not all drug tests are created equal.
The truth is that there are a huge variety of drug testing styles and limits of detection. It’s most commonly understood that drug tests search the subject for remnants of the processing of these compounds, sometimes referred to as metabolites. Since CBD, THC, Delta 8, or HHC all contain similar compounds that are processed in a similar manner, it could be assumed that the metabolites produced from the consumption of any of these could have the potential to raise a flag on a drug test.
Drug tests also have different thresholds for detection, and some may detect within certain time frames better than others.
What’s the verdict?
Because Delta 8 THC is a close cousin to traditional cannabis, it’s definitely possible that it could cause you to “fail” a drug test.
Ultimately, that risk is up to you. If an important aspect of your life depends on it, then it’s probably not worth taking the risk.

That depends on what you are looking for..
It’s hard to say whether Delta 8 or HHC are stronger, because it really just depends on what you are looking for in your hemp-derived cannabinoid experience. Both of these compounds provide similar effects to traditional Delta 9 Cannabis, and both are typically reported to be slightly less overwhelming for some users than some more common weed products.
HHC is usually associated with a euphoric and cerebral type of “high”, and many users can enjoy it all day while still being able to complete their daily activities. Delta 8 THC is normally going to provide a more dissociating and heavy type of body high, sometimes referred to as couch-lock. So, for regular users HHC may be a better fit, and for those looking to zone out, they might try Delta 8.
What are the technical differences between Delta 8 and HHC?
Without going too far into it, there are some primary differences that separate the HHC and Delta 8 from a scientific perspective. There are many similarities, as both of these are cannabinoid molecules found in the cannabis sativa plant. The differences are in the structure of the molecules themselves.
Delta 8 is extremely similar in molecular structure to Delta 9 THC, which is the primary psychoactive component in more commonly known “weed”. The only real difference between the two is the placement of a double-bond within the molecular chain.
HHC is also similar in some ways, however the primary molecular difference comes from the shape of a cyclohexyl side chain attached to the dibenzopyran ring, rather than the pentyl side chain found in Delta 9 THC. More simply stated, HHC is a hydrogenated form of THC.
How are Delta 8 and HHC legal?
Both of these cannabinoids were made legal in 2018 when the Farm Bill established Federal Guidelines between “hemp” and “cannabis”. Essentially, this new set of laws dictated that any cannabis product containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC was now legally hemp, and could be traded and possessed without federal prosecution. There is no specific license or card needed to purchase these products, although many states have enacted their own regulations regarding this class of cannabinoids. Whether or not they are found in nature, all hemp-derived cannabinoids start as CBD which is extracted from legal and compliant hemp and then later converted into consumable cannabinoid isolates and distillates.

Absolutely, HHC can get you high.We compare the HHC high similar to a Delta-9 THC cartridge high, it offers more of a cerebral high less of a body high. HHC is uplifting and mood-elevating, and thankfully does not cause the normal laziness or grogginess often associated with Delta-8 or Delta-9 highs. When consuming HHC you are still able to focus and get things done, it is the perfect daytime smoke. We feel as if we easily enter a flow state when vaping HHC and working on tasks or projects. It allows for free flowing thoughts and little outside distraction.Comparing HHC and Delta-8 Highs. We firmly believe that HHC is far superior to Delta-8 THC. The differences are most noticeable in the quality of the high and the overall experience.Delta-8 THC vapes are often associated with intense sneezing and coughing, whereas HHC offers a smoother and more enjoyable vaping experience, rarely causing such discomfort. This makes HHC more easily consumable compared to Delta-8.Furthermore, the HHC high is far better than that of Delta-8. In our experience, the Delta-8 high can be groggy and lazy, making it challenging to stay active and productive throughout the day. In contrast, HHC provides a more energetic high, with cerebral qualities that keep you moving and engaged.Another significant advantage of HHC is that it typically doesn't cause the anxiety often associated with Delta-8 or traditional Delta-9 cannabis. If you've experienced anxiety after smoking Delta-8 or Delta-9, HHC might be a better option for you.For these reasons, we strongly recommend trying HHC over Delta-8.

The Golden Rule
When consuming cannabis (weed) edibles, the number one rule to keep in mind is that you can always take more, but you can never take less. It’s common for new users to consume a reasonable dose, and then when they don’t feel the effect, they take more.

It takes much longer for the body to process cannabis in edible form compared to smoking or vaping. When you are inhaling, it’s quite easy to control your dosage as the effects of each hit are almost instant. With edibles, it could take 45 minutes to 2 hours for the effects to begin.

If you start consuming more before you begin to process the first dose, you could end up in a situation where you are already more intoxicated than you’d like to be by the time the additional doses even begin to metabolize. Being “too high” from edibles is not usually a fun experience, and it can take hours to begin to feel “normal” again. So, start slow and build up.

How Much To Take
While cannabinoids have the potential to produce dramatically different effects from person to person, you can generally assume that a brand new user will begin to feel the effects of cannabis edibles in doses as small as 5 or 10 mg. With the Golden Rule in mind, a first time user should try 5 or 10 mg and then wait up to 2 hours before considering consuming more.

Most edibles make it easy to ramp up incrementally, meaning you can add 5 or 10 mg at a time until you reach the desired effect. You can also split your edibles into smaller portions. Additionally, cannabis has the potential to produce a tolerance quickly, and experienced users may consume 100mg or more in a single sitting.

Keep in mind that metabolizing weed through digestion also produces a molecule called 11-OH-THC, so in addition to the Delta 9 THC producing effects, you are also going to feel the effects of 11-OH-THC, which is typically stronger than inhaling traditional cannabis. This means the same amount of THC will get you more “high” simply by digesting it rather than smoking it. Of course, you must ensure you are consuming properly prepared and decarboxylated edibles, as eating cannabis flower on its own will not produce the effects that most consumers are looking for.

What Effects To Expect From Weed Edibles
Weed edibles can provide a variety of positive effects for users. These effects typically arise due to the interaction between THC and the body's endocannabinoid system. Some of the positive effects of weed edibles include:

Long-Lasting Relief - Edibles provide prolonged relief from symptoms compared to other methods of consumption. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals seeking long-term relief from chronic pain, inflammation, or insomnia.

Potent Relaxation - Many users report a deep sense of relaxation and tranquility after consuming edibles. This can help alleviate stress, anxiety, and tension, promoting a calm and peaceful state of mind.

Enhanced Mood - THC in edibles can uplift mood and induce feelings of happiness and euphoria. This can be especially beneficial for individuals dealing with mood disorders such as depression or seasonal affective disorder.

Heightened Sensory Perception - Some users experience heightened sensory perception after consuming edibles, leading to enhanced appreciation of music, art, food, and nature.

Creativity and Focus - For some individuals, weed edibles can enhance creativity and focus, making it easier to engage in artistic pursuits, brainstorming sessions, or problem-solving activities.

Improved Sleep - Edibles may help regulate sleep patterns and promote better quality sleep for individuals struggling with insomnia or other sleep disorders.

Appetite Stimulation - THC is known to stimulate appetite, often referred to as having the "munchies." This can be beneficial for individuals with medical conditions that cause a lack of appetite or weight loss.

Overall, weed edibles can offer a range of positive effects, making them a popular choice for both recreational and medicinal users. Negative effects like lethargy or nausea can usually be combated by following the Golden Rule.

Where To Buy Weed Edibles
As a result of the 2018 Farm Bill, there are essentially 2 separate avenues you can take to get weed edibles in the US.

In some states, there is either a medical or recreational dispensary system that you may utilize to procure your THC treats. You may need a medical card or you may simply need to be 21 years of age or older, so check the cannabis rules in your own state.

In other markets where traditional cannabis access is more restricted, you may also find hemp derived THC gummies. As the Farm Bill states, products that contain less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC are considered legal hemp, so 10mg of THC in a 2 gram edible is a product that can be sold anywhere it’s not explicitly prohibited, including online. There are many hemp derived cannabinoid gummies that can be found in smoke shops and convenience stores, and the same dosage rules apply whether these are HHC, Delta 8, or something similar.

The third place to find cannabis edibles is the illicit or “black’ market. Many of these products could come without accurate lab testing or adherence to production safety measures, so in this case, you’re taking a shot in the dark.

What is HHC?
When it comes to HHC products, the DistroMike team knows their stuff. DistroMike was the first producer of HHC products in the world, through our in-house brand [BAKED]. The distillates used during development were later used to establish testing standards that the entire industry depends on to this day.
HHC, or hexahydrocannabinol, offers an alternative experience to traditional THC. With its unique chemical structure and properties, HHC provides low-dose users with a smooth psychoactive effect without the overwhelming intensity sometimes associated with THC.
Hemp-derived cannabinoids like HHC are available in products like vape cartridges and edibles, and can be found in countless retail locations in the US and in other parts of the world, in addition to numerous online stores. It’s important to note that not all HHC is created equally, so users should consider choosing products from trusted and lab tested manufacturers.
What are the effects of HHC?
For the majority of consumers, the HHC “high” is similar in effect to a standard Delta 9 THC cartridge. One of the crazy things about HHC is that it can lead to a highly euphoric and elevated state, while still being relatively clear minded and focused. HHC typically does not create the grogginess of Delta 8 or the couch-lock sedation of a heavy indica cannabis strain.
While most users enjoy the light and uplifting effects, cannabinoids can interact with the unique physiology of each person differently, so your personal results could vary a bit.
There is no such thing as HHC flower.
One thing we do not typically recommend is “HHC Flower”. While HHC is a naturally occurring cannabinoid, meaning it can be found in the pollen of just about any cannabis plant, it is found only in minute amounts. In order to produce HHC at scale, it must be converted from CBD. This means all HHC vape or edible products start as Hemp.
The truth is that HHC plants, practically speaking, do not exist. The flower being sold as HHC flower is non-psychoactive hemp flower with HHC distillate then sprayed over the top of it after harvest. While this may produce effects for the consumer, it is normally harsh and inefficient, and overall not the most pleasant way to consume HHC.
