What Do Studies Show About HHC's Safety?

Colorado Chromatography (CC) was the first lab in the world to offer HHC oil on a large scale. With the growing popularity of this new cannabinoid, CC conducted some third-party studies. A nonclinical in vitro safety assessment was carried out by Charles River Laboratories. This study tested for mutagenicity, heart safety, cytotoxicity, and liver damage.
The study concluded that:HHC was not mutagenic at reasonable dosages.HHC did not inhibit any critical potassium channel, reducing one potential cardiovascular risk.Preliminary evidence suggests orally ingested HHC was non-toxic.Liver damage was of very low concern.
So, while a few studies have been completed, there is still limited evidence to support any positive or negative effects of HHC.
How Do You Know If The HHC You Are Purchasing Is Legitimate?
With many HHC brands on the market, not all are created equal. Here are a few key things to look out for when purchasing an HHC product to increase your chances of getting a high-quality product:
- Always check for a QR code that leads to a Certificate of Analysis (COA), also known as a lab test. - Ensure the product has a Batch ID and Expiration date.- Make sure the packaging has a proper barcode.- Look for brands that seal their vapes in tamper-proof mylar bags to guarantee the product has not been tampered with.-Look for well-designed packaging with little to no typos.-Only purchase pure HHC products. What Is HHC? A Detailed Overview - DistroMike

What Is HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol)?
HHC stands for Hexahydrocannabinol. It's a compound that has effects very similar to traditional delta-9 THC, but it's derived from hemp. Unlike THC, HHC is not grown or extracted; it's made through a conversion process that starts with CBD, much like how delta-8 THC is created.
HHC is essentially tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but with an additional hydrogen molecule added. It was first discovered in the 1940s by American chemist Roger Adams, who is known for his pioneering research on cannabis. Despite being known for over 60 years, HHC didn't have a practical use until recently. The 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized delta-8 THC products, also paved the way for HHC's rise in popularity.
When states in the US began to ban or regulate the sale and manufacturing of delta-8 products, HHC emerged as a legal alternative. Many of the state bills being passed banned the sale of THC isomers, which include things like delta-8, delta-10, thc-o, etc. Since HHC is not considered a THC isomer, it was able to enter the market and replace delta products in states with delta restrictions.

Does HHC Get You High??
Absolutely, HHC will get you high, and we believe it offers one of the best experiences available. The high from HHC is very similar to that of delta-9 THC. What Is The Difference Between 9R-HHC and 9S-HHC?
 
When looking at a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for HHC, you will notice that HHC is actually made up of 2 different kinds of HHC, 9R-HHC and 9S-HHC. All HHC on the market will include these because when HHC is created, both of these cannabinoids are created.
The terms "9R-HHC" and "9S-HHC" refer to the two enantiomers of HHC. Enantiomers are pairs of molecules that are mirror images of each other, similar to how your left and right hands are mirror images. These two forms are identical in terms of their molecular formula but differ in their three-dimensional spatial arrangement.
The "9r" and "9s" notation indicates the configuration of the molecule around the ninth carbon atom in the HHC structure. The "r" stands for "rectus" (Latin for "right"), indicating that the arrangement of atoms around this carbon is right-handed, while the "s" stands for "sinister" (Latin for "left"), indicating a left-handed arrangement.
While it is believed that one may be more psychoactive than the other, there is little research done to support a valid claim
 
Is HHC Safe?
Most likely! As long as you're consuming HHC products from a reputable brand with quality products, you should be safe. There have been no known cases of anyone dying or having serious health issues from consuming HHC. However, there aren't many in-depth studies on the long-term benefits or risks of using HHC. We personally consume HHC almost every day and have had many positive experiences.

Is HHC Legal?
HHC was federally legalized by the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp and all its derivatives, as long as they contain less than 0.3% delta-9 THC. While HHC is federally legal, its sale and distribution have been banned or restricted in some states and countries. As a consumer, you shouldn't need to worry about breaking the law if you consume HHC, but the sale and distribution of products might be regulated at the state level. However, we're not lawyers, so please consult an attorney for legal advice.
 
Does HHC Show Up On A Drug Test?
The short answer is yes, but the real answer is maybe. In theory, you should be able to consume HHC and pass a THC drug test since HHC is not technically THC. However, HHC is still a cannabinoid, so if you risk losing your job or getting into trouble, it's best to avoid HHC and other cannabinoids. Drug tests have many variables that can affect the outcome, and with so many different types of tests, it's impossible to guarantee a pass.

The short answer is yes, HHC can show up on a drug test, but the longer answer is more nuanced. Let’s discuss more..
First and foremost, if you're subject to drug testing and risk losing your job or facing legal consequences, we strongly advise against consuming HHC, Delta-8, or any cannabinoids.
Drug tests vary, and everyone's body reacts differently to cannabinoids. Most drug tests screen for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which includes Delta-8, Delta-9, Delta-10, and other variants.
Interestingly, HHC is technically not THC, but it is still a cannabinoid. And the structure of HHC is very similar to THC, except it has 1 additional hydrogen molecule. This means there's no guarantee that consuming HHC will allow you to pass a THC drug test. There has not been enough research done to understand exactly how HHC breaks down in the body.
Now, for those who can't abstain from getting high, HHC might still be your best bet.  Any Delta-8, Delta-9 or other THC product will definitely guarantee you fail the drug test. However, we do know some people have consumed HHC and passed a drug test, but we also know others who have failed. So, if you're subject to drug testing, it's safest to avoid HHC products altogether.
